Will former BSP Leader get the ticket or leave BJP

Swami Prasad Maurya’s interview with a local news network informed the audience of his disappointment, albeit mild, about his candidates not being featured in the 1st list of ticket distribution declared by the BJP. Mr Maurya believed that he continues to be on good terms with leaders across party lines. His demeanour let his agitation be known along with his hopeful wish, of being listed in the 2nddocument the BJP comes out with.

Mr Maurya had quit Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party in 2016 and claimed that Mayawati had auctioned off tickets for the elections. He joined the Bhartiya Janata Party a month later. He was a popular face of the BSP, known as the representative of the backward castes. The first list of candidates that the BJP is fielding in the UP Elections 2017 did not feature Mr Maurya, creating waves of tension amongst the latter’s support base.

Will the senior political leader form a new political outfit altogether or wait for the next BJP list to come out? Would the BJP make the big mistake of excluding Mr Maurya? One will find an answer soon enough.
