Jan Ki Baat appleals to the media to apologize for incorrectly linking JNU student Najeeb to ISIS

Najeeb, 27, a first year M.Sc. student, went missing from his JNU hostel, allegedly after a row with members of the RSS student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

On March 21, a TOI front-page story by journalist Raj Shekhar Jha had claimed on the basis of conversations with anonymous “highly placed sources” that Ahmed’s internet browsing history apparently showed that he was looking for information on ISIS’s “ideology, execution and network,” and that his searches included “ways to join ISIS” and similar such queries.

The story also claimed that the conclusions were drawn from a report on his browsing history, which was accessed by the Delhi police, from YouTube and Google, and has now been submitted to the Delhi high court.

Dependra Pathak, spox chief Delhi Police said that any suggestions with ISIS has not come up in Delhi Police’s investigation. Google or YouTube hasn’t given any reports about such incidents. No submissions related to the first page have been made in the High Court. And no linking to the ISIS has come up in the investigations.

Nasjeeb is missing since October 5th, 2016. Jan Ki Baat urges the media not to ruin the future of Najeeb further without any evidence and join hands to find Najeeb.
