The Akhil Bhartiya Vidya Parishad’s win in the Delhi Student Union Elections this year was celebrated in both Campus. The Founder of Jan Ki Baat attempts to capture the festive mood of the party and its supporters. The candidates who won were in an extremely joyous mood, as can be seen in the video.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student outfit affiliated to the RSS, swept over the students union elections in Delhi University, winning three out of four posts. The Congress-backed NSUI won one post. ABVP has won the posts of president, vice-president and secretary of the students union, popularly known as DUSU. The NSUI won the post of Joint Secretary.

Would this win go on to reflect, in the future, ABVP’s role in transforming student politics? Would it empower students, something that hasn’t happened in DU for a really long time? Or would it end with the students giving up hope and waiting for the next elections to be held?
