Delay in Justice: 4 years of Nirbhaya Case

Streets were flooded across Delhi and protests were carried out throughout India against the heinous gangrape of a medical student in Delhi. The incident, popularly known as the Nirbhaya case due to the fighting spirit of the girl, brought the issue of security of women into limelight of all media houses and political parties who promised measures to safeguard women all across India. However, security of women in India remains a myth. It was, it is and as the status quo stands, it probably always will be. In our interview with leading social activists in the field; Saahas CEO, Gauri Sareen complains about the social fabric and family upbringing which perpetuate a weaker woman and a stronger man, the Delhi Commission for Women representative Swati Maliwal complains about the lack of fast track courts which were promised and politician Yogendra Yadav laments the patriarchal set up of the society which prevents the deterrence in crime against women.
