Corruption Allegations against Kejriwal led AAP: Pradip Bhandari on DD News

Pradip Bhandari, the CEO and founder of Jan ki Baat addresses the audience in DD News hosted by Mr.Ashok Shrivastav in his show, “Do Tuk” talking about corruption in Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party. The Aam Aadmi Party came chiefly as an anti-corruption movement in the wake of corruption in the previous years but it has failed as a governing body since there are allegations of corruption on the party.

There is a difference between governing and putting allegations on other parties. There is a difference between starting a movement and starting a functioning government. Arvind Kejriwal had put allegations on Congress and BJP, accusing them of corruption, asking them to set an internal inquiry report. Now that similar allegations are put on Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party, he has failed to order an enquiry into the matter. Aam Aadmi Party came as an anti-corruption movement and its basic principle was to fight corruption. However, if there are allegations of corruption in the distribution of ticket inside the party, the party should order an independent enquiry, suggested Bhandari. The party has however failed to give its statement on the same. This has made the people question the validity of the government. 7 out of 10 drivers from the core voter base i.e. the auto and the taxi drivers who had voted for AAP are now unhappy with the way it is functioning, as pointed out by the Jan Ki Baat surveys. The party lost the elections in Punjab and Goa, and similar trends will be visible in Delhi.

The AAP Party gave a loan instead of a grant that they were liable to give. Also, abolishing house tax is not a solution since a majority of the percentage of MCD revenue comes from these taxes, abolishing which the MCD will find it difficult to give grants.

Pradip Bhandari said that if there is corruption in the system, the tax collection mechanism should be improved instead of abolishing the collection of tax. Furthermore, an enquire should be initiated into the Aam Aadmi Party to check corruption as soon as possible.
